Jacobs Nuclear Projects and Consulting is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering and construction.
We are looking to add a Senior Lead Structural Engineer to our growing engineering team. As a Senior Lead Structural Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on projects critical to our nations security and scientific research. You will have an opportunity to design some of the most unique and rewarding facilities knowing your contributions matter.
As a Sr. Lead Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for full execution and oversight of assigned projects ranging from small upgrades to new green field designs. You will act as the Subject Matter Expert in structural design for industrial and nuclear projects across the country. This position will also assist the Structural Engineering Discipline Manager in daily operations of design team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead structural design team as Engineer of Record for projects assigned
Being Subject Matter Expert in design industrial and hazardous structures including design of steel and concrete, seismic design, and code expert in IBC, DOE-1020, ASCE, etc.
Participate in project conceptual designs including design charrettes
Assist Structural Discipline Manager with assigned tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and staffing
Perform site visits and walkdowns as required
Mentor Structural Engineers and Designers as required
Here’s what you’ll need :
Qualifications:
4 year B.S. ABET Accredited Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer license with ability to obtain licenses in multiple states
10 years experience of industrial facility design, including 1 year of nuclear design required
Design experience with DOE-1020, ASCE 43, AISC N690, ACI 349, and similar nuclear codes and standards
Ability to obtain/maintain DOE Q Clearance
Ability to travel 15% of time as required
Experience with leading team of 5 Engineers and Designers including personnel and design management
Experience in developing design estimates of complex projects
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and PDF software
Ability to navigate 3D Building Information Models
Ability to use CAD software
US citizenship with no dual citizenship is required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
Work in Oak Ridge, TN full time
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
Structural Engineer license (SE)
Engineer of Record experience for Nuclear Power Plant or Department of Energy
1 year experience as Field or Resident Engineer on active job site preferred
Experience designing the UFC criteria
Blast Design experience
Experience with Soil Structural Interaction (SSI) design
Advanced knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in high seismic environments
FEA expertise utilizing STAAD pro
Experience utilizing MathCAD software
Experience with NQA-1 Quality Program including design procedures, software quality assurance, and commercial grade dedication
Experience working in a high-security environment
