Summary

Entry level, product data management associate to support electronic manufacturing production on bill of material, supplier setup and engineering data.

Detailed Description

Entry level during which an employee receives both functional and organizational training under close supervision. Incumbents carry out assignments within well-defined practices, procedures and policies. Works independently on details of assignments, and has limited decision-making authority; most decisions are made or guided by the immediate supervisor. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department's/division’s goals. Works under close Supervision and requires direction on how assignments are to be executed; begins to put forward ideas on how work assignments are completed. Establishes cooperative relationships to work effectively with colleagues; supports others and participates as a team member, and takes responsibility for own work commitments. Interacts directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Provides the necessary engineering support and coordination of prototype build to ensure that new assemblies are completed on time and on budget. Provides feedback to appropriate engineering and support groups to ensure smooth transition from prototype to production. Reviews and interprets customer specifications. Helps determine inspection criteria for incoming materials. Coordinates and performs component selection and qualification. Acts as the focal point for all product-related technical issues. Interacts with customers to resolve problems and increase the quality and yield of the product. May become involved in providing the necessary engineering support and coordination of a prototype build to ensure new assemblies are completed on time.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Engineering Foundation Competencies

  • Knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards.

  • Knowledge and understanding of systems and printed circuit board manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Knowledge of industry and quality standards.

  • Knowledge of testing software, processes and methodologies and failure analysis.

  • Knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.

  • Good organization skills.

  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.

  • Knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.

  • Knowledge of industry and quality standards for incoming materials.

  • Ability to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers.

Typical Experience

Zero to two years’ relevant experience.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology related discipline
