Job Summary:

The Contracts Specialist is responsible for reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of many different staffing contracts to capture and implement agreed-upon business concepts with customers. This includes drafting and modifying contract language, analyzing contract liabilities, and providing support, analysis and responses within stringent time frames in order to meet deadlines. This position requires significant field interaction on a national level and on-going communication with senior managers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and negotiate new contracts and amendments with customers.

  • Create contractual provisions to capture and implement agreed-upon business concepts and review such with customers and internally submit such provisions for applicable review and approval.Work this process with customers and/or suppliers until final agreement is reached.

  • Advise management of the likely effects that customer provisions may have on VWS operations (i.e., let these organizations know what these provisions “really mean”) and how to minimize VWS exposure.

  • Administer existing contracts with customers and maintain according contract files.

  • Provide support, analysis and responses to issues and questions.

  • Evaluate performance term and conditions (and other miscellaneous bidding requirements) provided with customer RFP/RFIs.

  • Develop a summary of issues that VWS should highlight and respond to as part of the RFP/RFQ response, and work with management to reach agreement on those provisions.

  • Serve as a liaison between VWS Legal on certain contract issues.

  • Work with VWS Operations, Accounting and other inter-departments to resolve contract and operational issues.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher; J.D. a plus

  • Three plus years Contracts experience within the service industry including writing summary reports and negotiation of terms preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must

  • Demonstrated customer service capabilities

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment is also a must.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
