Your role

The Community Experiences and Partnerships team is looking for an energetic Senior Communications Officer.

You will support the Manager, Community Experiences and Partnerships, in planning, creating and implementing marketing, communications and partnership initiatives, as well as developing and executing plans aimed at reaching, converting and retaining audiences.

This is a hybrid position based in Ottawa.

Tasks:

  • Help develop an annual strategy for outreach activities and partnerships.

  • Develop, plan and implement execution plans, brand activations and innovative event experiences, internally and externally.

  • Take part in negotiating, drafting, monitoring and implementing related agreements.

  • Help plan the event calendar and production schedules, co-ordinate all project phases, do technical and location scouting, and manage budgets.

  • Co-ordinate all information relevant to project execution and logistics, acting as the main point of contact for follow-up.

  • Guide programming and technical teams in developing specials and remotes in connection with outreach activities and partnerships.

  • Advise other departments on best practices for greeting the general public, visitors and school groups.

  • Execute activities and oversee the work of ambassadors, training them as required; co-ordinate needs for ambassador services with producers and programming teams.

  • Help develop media, promotional visibility and content development plans for all platforms.

  • Regularly measure the performance of activities, conduct post-mortems and optimize results.

What you bring:

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from university or community college with a degree, diploma or certificate in marketing or communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in communications, promotion or marketing

Skills:

  • Planning and strategic thinking skills

  • Leadership skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Experience in community relations and event management

  • Superior communication and writing skills in French

  • Intermediate proficiency in English

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, judgment and initiative

  • Superior negotiation skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-changing environment

  • Self-reliance, strategic vision, creativity and good judgment

  • Strong grasp of marketing principles, brand building and copywriting

  • Relevant experience with radio/television broadcasting or online promotion, depending on the assignment

  • Interest in the media and cultural sector

  • Ability to travel when needed

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
