Serco Combat Systems Test Engineer (Air Search Radar) in Pascagoula, Mississippi

Position Description

As a Combat Systems Test Engineer, you will be on a team that is evaluating and managing construction and delivery of the LPD ship class at the US Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS.

This role is contingent on your ability to obtain, maintain, or transfer your Secret clearance post employment.

Our Amphibious Warfare Operation provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and craft. Serco supports the U.S. Navy as a prime contractor providing amphibious warfare and expeditionary professional support services. In this role, you will:

  • Provide installation, troubleshooting, repair and operational test and evaluation support for Air Search Radar Systems on LPD 17 Class vessels

  • Review, update, and develop test procedures for shipboard testing events related to Combat Systems

  • Support development and update of Suitability Plans, and develop test objectives, test scenarios, test plans, test reports and briefings

  • Establish and maintain productive liaison with Government Project teams, Production Teams and Shipbuilder

  • Monitor Installation of Combat Systems in New Construction shipyard environment

  • Identify performance issues with the Air Search Radar System; isolate issues to either hardware or software or particular interfaces during testing

  • Draft and submit software trouble reports that describe the performance issue compared to performance requirements

  • Participate as a test team member for all troubleshooting, training, and scenarios

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 5+ years of relevant experience in the field of naval combat systems. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance post-employment

  • 10% travel required

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but individuals with technical schools or military certifications will be considered

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Navy and shipyard teams both orally and in written reports and briefings using Microsoft Office Products

  • Experience with both rotating and phased array radar systems

  • Combat system and weapon system experience with specific AN/SPY or AMDR Radar Systems
