AHBL Urban Planner in Pasco, Washington

AHBL is a multidisciplinary firm offering services in civil and structural engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and land surveying to public and private clients. Our tight-knit and fast-paced team is looking for a collaborative, creative, and versatile Urban Planner with skills in zoning and plan making and who is eager to work on a variety of exciting projects from our Pasco office. WHAT YOU WILL DO In this role you will work on a variety of current and long-range planning projects for public and private sector clients throughout Washington and the west coast. You will be performing professional planning services in a team environment and will enjoy frequent contact with AHBL's clients, including contacts with the city, county, and state officials and staff, citizens' groups, and other professionals. Your work will include the preparation of comprehensive plans, subarea plans and development regulations. You will also prepare parks, recreation, and open space plans, as well as environmental review documents under the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). This will involve research, writing, preparing graphics and maps, and public engagement. Your work will include participating in multi-disciplined teams to help design and entitle projects as well as work under our on-call consulting contracts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in planning, landscape architecture, or a related field 2-5 years of professional planning experience. One year of experience can be substituted with a master's degree in planning or a related field Knowledge of the philosophies, principles, practices, and techniques of planning Understanding of land use controls (e.g., zoning, subdivision, landscape codes) A strong belief in the integration of meaningful community input with community planning Excellent organization and task management capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude for visual/graphic presentation Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS (mapping, data management and analysis) DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree Experience working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment Urban design skills COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is dependent on which of our internal company levels the selected candidate aligns with. This role could be filled by candidates at either a Planner II or Planner III level, and the hiring team will determine which level is most appropriate for each candidate based on their relevant background and experience. Actual pay will be based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Ranges are based on a 40-hour work week. Planner II - $67,725 - $78,032 per year Planner III - $71,000 - $86,839 per year Annual discretionary performance-based bonus.
