Mercury Systems Sr Mechanical Assembly Technician in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Summary: This position is for an established and productive individual who works under moderate to minimal supervision. This position requires the individual to maintain/repair custom Special Test Equipment (STE) along with its associated suite of test cables. The position also requires the individual to work with engineering and assist in the development and fabrication of new custom Special Test Equipment and test cables to support new product development. This position will require the individual to be skilled in performing standard circuit card, complex cable, and mechanical assembly processes. Job Responsibility: * Maintaining/rebuilding custom test cables which utilize a variety of Mil Spec 38999 type connectors, Quardrax contact inserts, ground shields/solder ferrules to the IPC-A-620 standards. * Maintaining and repairing custom Special Test Equipment (STE), which includes reworking circuit card assemblies to J-STD-001 standards. * Performing a wide variety of electrical/mechanical product assembly operations on components, assemblies, sub-assemblies and on up to the Top-Level rack/chassis. * Must be able to work with assembly drawings, parts lists, military specifications. * Working in tandem with engineering to help develop and fabricate new custom Special Test Equipment (STEs) along with its associated suite of test cables to support new product lines. * Populating and soldering circuit card assemblies from assembly drawings and bills of material. * Continuously meeting/exceeding production schedules and deadlines while adhering and complying with designated quality standards. * Maintaining logs, paperwork, and forms accurately consistent with company policy and practices. * Supporting production line activities and other project miscellaneous tasks on occasion on an as needed basis. Required Qualification: * High School Diploma or equivalent * Cable fabrication/maintenance experience in compliance with IPC-A-620 standards. * Soldering skills in compliance with J-STD-001 standards. * Working/adhering to IPC-A-610 Quality standards. * 5 or more years of relevant work experience. * Basic mechanical assembly skills. * Ability to read Assembly Drawings, Parts Lists and Assembly Instructions. * Knowledge and awareness of ESD (Electrostatic discharge) processes and procedures. * Must possess basic computer skills. * Ability to multi-task and flexibility is key. * Ability to work with general instructions and interact well with other team members while performing daily activities. * Fluent writing/reading in English as well as general Math skills. Preferred Qualification: * Familiarity with AS9100 practices. * Familiarity with reading and building to Schematics.
