Amazon Failure Analysis Engineer CT / X-Ray, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Key job responsibilities

As a Failure Analysis Lab Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting technical lab work which supports satellite failure analysis and materials development investigations. You will develop and execute SOPs focused on producing world-class analysis outcomes in the areas of sample preparation and physical/chemical materials characterization. A majority of time will be spent in a lab environment, so enthusiasm for hands-on work and developing lab procedures is important. You will provide technical support for materials and failure analysis investigations with the goal of driving design and manufacturing improvements. To enable this, you will be an expert in the following:

· Mechanical cross sectioning and associated sample preparation

· X-ray inspection methods (2D and computed tomography) geared towards failure analysis of microelectronics

· Optical inspection methods and measurements

· Lab equipment procurement and maintenance

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Redmond, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or computer science

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with X-ray/CT equipment, operation, calibration and trouble-shooting

  • 1+ year experience in failure analysis, examination, or qualification of microelectronics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in driving root cause failure analysis of microelectronic failures using x-ray imaging methods

  • Experience in an aerospace-related lab environment

  • Experience with method development in X-ray inspection (2D and computed tomography) and associated measurement software (VGSTUDIO or similar)

  • Experience with fatigue, vibration and shock, electrical stress, and environmental stress testing

  • Experience writing SOP documents and lab reports

  • Willingness to independently troubleshoot and maintain scientific equipment, engaging equipment manufacturers when necessary for support

  • Experience or certification in Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
