System One Manufacturing Systems Analyst in Richland, Washington

System One has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Analyst to support our client’s Special Materials business. This is a 12 month contract role based in Richland, WA (local candidate preferred, per diem is not available).

As the MES Analyst, you will have the opportunity to lead digital transformation through manufacturing execution systems, advanced process technology, and data in a world-class manufacturing company. You will be a valued member of a manufacturing systems digital technology team directly responsible for supporting our manufacturing operations to ensure manufacturing systems are available, support operational business needs, and meet business goals.

In order to become successful, you will have to quickly develop a strong understanding of the systems and technologies that enable the plant to operate effectively, and identify, develop and implement solutions that will continue to improve effectiveness and efficiency. As a MES Analyst, you’ll work collaboratively with your digital technology team members and engage directly with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, material & logistics and finance to assure the accuracy, timeliness, and adequacy of the data created from the shop floor.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide level 2 and 3 supports for manufacturing systems to address business problems.

  • Partner with IT colleagues and business leaders to understand business priorities, facilitate business case development, and define technology solutions which align the manufacturing processes; and measure execution to ensure that system functionality and solutions meet business needs.

  • Lead design, development, and implementation initiatives for new systems and system changes deemed necessary to support Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Quality Assurance, Engineering and ATI goals.

  • Identify, recommend, and apply MES system improvements and methodologies in the development of standard processes and methods which support and sustain process improvement, cost reduction, product flow and product quality.

  • Provide and manage production support for MES functions including ERP interfaces, MES master data maintenance & process modeling, MES functionality (transactions and user interfaces), and Database / reporting functions.

  • Create, configure, and update product workflows, specifications, and data collections in MES for new product introductions or major process changes.

  • Develop interface specifications for MES to connect with ERP, LIMS, SCADA, and Batch systems.

  • Support strategic and capital projects involving MES systems and drive them to completion.

  • Communicate the status of the work, progress and obstacles while working with minimal supervision.

  • Participate in daily operations and management meetings.

    Ideal Background

  • At least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems and Manufacturing Information Systems including MES applications and technical knowledge of SQL database, HMI’s, PLCs and high-speed data.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or a related information technology or engineering discipline

  • Technical experience with Wonderware and InSQL

  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification

  • PMP or Scrum Master certification

  • Knowledge of Oracle eBusiness Suite

  • Proven ability to be a strong team member and work collaboratively in an industrial production environment, with the initiative to learn new skills and technology, comprehend, and visualize a complex set of processes and their interactions and apply rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems.

  • Strong aptitude and understanding of manufacturing business processes and their relation to MES/MIS systems.

  • Technical knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems and Manufacturing Intelligence and Reporting systems such as Wonderware/ Historian, Windows Server technologies, SQL, IIS, Proxy, Apache, ASP .Net, or XML and others

  • Demonstrated ability to apply continuous improvement concepts, lean manufacturing techniques and principles to a production environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to foster collaboration, inspire confidence, and motivate individuals across diverse teams in a manufacturing environment in order to meet objectives.

  • Strong ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and in a timely manner.

  • Awareness of SCADA /equipment process controls system (HMI's, PLC, Ladder Logic, etc)

  • Ability to work independently, be action oriented, and successfully balance multiple projects at various stages with limited supervision.

  • Experience with Software and Hardware Configuration Control
