Title: Press Machine Operators Location: Chino, CA *Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Mon-Fri) *
Pay: $9.00 to $9.50 per hour
Summary Responsible for operating press machines, fitting and fabricating products. Complete layout and inspection of finish product.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate, set-up, and utilize foot press machine.
- Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches.
- Adjust ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints.
- Checks height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments.
- Work with tight tolerances.
- Produce parts for assembly operations.
- Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements.
- Perform spot inspections of parts.
- Perform all required routine and minor maintenance activities according to procedures.
- Complete and maintain paperwork.
- Identify assembly parts.
- Set up light gauge metal.
- Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum and regular steel).
- Check machine for defects and inform supervisor.
- Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned.
- Read drawings and blueprints.
Job Duties
- Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
- Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
- Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
- Load work pieces into machines.
- Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material.
- Set-up machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
- Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools.
- Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
- Clean machines and work area.
- Position, align, and secure work pieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies.
Job Qualifications
- Preferred: 3-5 years, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
