Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Compounding Specialist accurately and efficiently performs sterile and non-sterile batch compounding functions. Accurately and efficiently performs sterility and environmental testing. Appropriately uses and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment. Handles hazardous substances safely and in accordance with regulatory and policy requirements. Monitors and maintains medication, chemical and supply inventory levels. Provides training to Mayo staff.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two-year degree in a science-related field, OR a medical laboratory technology degree, OR four years of applicable batch medication sterile compounding experience in pharmacy technician role.

  • The following are preferred: Four-year degree in a science-related field. Knowledge of laboratory procedures. Exhibits good organization and problem solving skills to carry out all phases of a project including assisting with product development and expense reduction.Competent in math and algebra skills. Able to comprehend the use of laboratory instruments, computer programs and operate mechanical equipment. Organization and problem solving skills to carry out all phases of a project including assisting with product development and expense reduction. Careful attention to detail. Working knowledge of and ability to apply USP Chapters 71, 795 and 797.

License or Certification

  • Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Registered pharmacy technician.

  • Current department-approved National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
