Applied Materials Global FP&A Sr. Manager - Strategic Review and Enterprise Portfolio in Santa Clara, California

This leadership role under Global FP&A will support the Enterprise Portfolio Process and financial analysis/reporting for the annual Strategic Planning process at the company. This position will involve analyzing data to create key insights and trends as well as developing content for exec management, product groups, investor relations and treasury. The position requires strong strategic thinking, communication, and analytical skills as majority of the reporting and presentations will be serving the executive management of the company.

Two key requirements of this role:

Works closely with the CVP, Corp Planning to enable effective annual portfolio reviews with CEO/CFO and Product Groups + Corp Functions. Goal for the EPRs (Enterprise Portfolio Reviews) is to help optimize overall R&D + SG&A spend allocation for the next Fiscal year. This will require a good understanding of company’s business portfolio and how those businesses tie into company strategies. The person will be involved in planning for the requirements around data and other metrics from company-wide groups to help execute effective portfolio reviews with actionable insights.

Leads the finance support for company’s strategic planning process from GFP&A team. Partners with GFP&A team members and other FP&A teams across the company to ensure robust financial submissions for the annual strategic planning process. Responsible for LT Financial plan model and Finance SR (Strategic Review) process that provides timeline/guidelines into the respective segment/function finance teams for the SR process. Creates annual Strategic plan financial summaries for CEO/CFO reviews.

The person in this role will also help summarize data related to market trends and drivers, competitors, business unit financials in a meaningful way. This person will proactively work with key business partners across the company to develop actionable reports and analyses. The ideal candidate needs to be comfortable working on strategic initiatives, as well as deliverables related to financial reviews.

The right individual will have strong analytical skills and work ethics, capable of executing to deadlines and requests efficiently. Also, the person should demonstrate solid grasp and understanding of financials and GAAP reporting, including understanding of balance sheet and cash flow statements and drivers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help enable effective and actionable Enterprise Portfolio Reviews

  • Owns the LT financial model and financial process tied to annual Strategic Planning process

  • Interpret financial results into insights and recommendations, and present to executives

  • Perform regular predictive financial modeling, monitoring outcomes, and refining the models

  • Act as a finance business partner and subject matter expert across the business

  • Manage and update content as needed for investor relations events and board meetings

  • Provide financial modeling, analysis, and valuation support for acquisitions and ad-hoc projects

  • Identify and implement reporting of key financial metrics that enable meaningful insights and improve the visibility to company’s financial results

  • Partner with GIS to enable implementation of reporting systems and processes across Finance

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business-related degree preferred)

  • 10-20 years of experience in Finance/Accounting for reputable companies

  • Strong communication and persuasion skills

  • Strong analytical, financial modeling and reporting skills

  • Attention to details, ability to think clearly, work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Curiosity to learn the business, improve processes and strive for excellence

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance in a fast-paced, global environment

  • Experience in statistical analysis concepts and tools, python, AI models will be a plus

U.S. Salary Range:

$148,000.00 - $203,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
