We are seeking a Principal System Engineer to work onsite at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs CO. Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret clearance is required prior to start date.

Primary Responsibilities:

Specific tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform use case development and prepare systems engineering artifacts including definition of Epics and Features to be developed by program Cross-Functional Product Teams to implement customer requested capabilities.

  • Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, system engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews.

  • Position will also provide use case development support to junior systems engineering team members to enhance use case skills in the department.

  • Candidate needs to have the ability to be flexible to support various tasking on short notice.

  • Work will be performed under the direction of various technical leads and product owners and require interfacing with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available.

  • Additional responsibilities include reviewing the content and details of technical products and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basis.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • The position requires previous experience in the integration of separate software components into a single system. Strong technical skills in the following are required:

  • Candidate should possess the ability to be part of an integrated team tasked with developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical requirements baselines necessary to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving MDS Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system.

  • Candidate should have demonstrated experience in mission analysis with skill in development of use cases, sequence diagrams, and SysML modeling in support of MBSE. Experience with Agile Methods, and Epic and Feature definition is a significant plus. Candidate skills required include:

  • Requirements elicitation, derivation, and decomposition to lower-level subsystems and components.

  • Maintenance of system and component baselines in a requirement management system.

  • Defining the relationships between internal and external components; Communicating system level use cases and associated Epics and Feature relationships to a diverse group of customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.

  • Skills generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.

  • Skills in logical architecture modeling and/or interface definition, as well as knowledge of cyber security concepts and security accreditation are highly desirable.

  • 8 years prior relevant experience.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret clearance is required prior to start date. Candidate must have a SECRET clearance to start with the ability to obtain a TS Clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
