This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations. As part of a hardworking team of diverse leaders, you will lead a team of highly specialized Blue Flight Directors and Launch Directors, manage the group's personnel & budgets, and external interfaces and infrastructure support. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide direct and matrix leadership to Blue Flight Directors and Launch Director positions for all TFO supporting platforms and programs (New Sheppard, New Glenn, Blue Ring, Lunar). Makes mission assignments and leads performance to ensure efficient and safe flight practices. Manages certification process and standards for Blue Origin Flight Directors, and Launch Directors; cultivates training opportunities to ensure the highest certification standards are met. Develops, implements, and maintains mission and ground operations training requirements, course content, and records. Implements launch crew console operator and integrated crew training and certification flows. Collaborates closely with the director of Space Flight Operations to define scope and plan real-time support for the mission operations teams. Also serves as a collaborator for Flight Controller certifications. This position also has final authority on the development and implementation of mission-related team ground operations training requirements. Oversees key mission planning functions before flight, simulation plans, communications plans, and trajectory plans, and assists in making TFO mission-related facility priority decisions. Ensures Blue fitness for mission readiness for all Blue Missions which includes planning, vehicle readiness, Risk acceptance, training, and Realtime flight preparedness as well as quick response and emergency actions. Provides approval of mission products which include procedures, flight Rules, computations, and product standards. Manages real-time risks and mission decisions that need to be coordinated with the Blue Executive Leaders and Mission Management Teams (MMT). Oversees and serves as the authority for a critical day of mission changes to flight plans, flight rules, procedures, or standard processes. Performs coordination of pre-mission and real-time operations between Program Management, Launch Vehicle Operations, Ground Operations, Recovery and Refurbishment Operations, Payload Operations, Purchasing, and program Engineering to ensure operations and customer specifications are accurate and operations schedules are driven promptly. Serves in the capacity of Blue Mission Director to support real-time risks and mission decisions requiring coordination with the Blue Executive Leaders, and Customer Leaders (commercial and governmental). This role involves monitoring status and providing regular updates on upcoming operations priorities and challenges of diverse scope requiring evaluation and judgment. Oversees and has key collaborator input for critical day-of mission changes to the flight plans, procedures, or standard processes.
