Position Summary The NGINX Product Group is looking for an exceptional Principal Technical Writer to join our team. This role will focus primarily on creating clear, impactful documentation for the NGINX community and its partners. You will develop technical content that helps users understand and utilize NGINXs products and use their open source and commercial products to their best advantage. The Principal Technical Writer approaches the development of technical content with an innovative and creative spirit. This collaborative role requires partnership with cross-functional teams (solution architects, engineers, product managers, etc.) to develop strategies that improve the NGINX user experience. In this role, you will build deep product expertise and knowledge of the market and competition; you will use that knowledge to anticipate and plan for future customer and product needs. The Principal Technical Writer meaningfully steers the direction of NGINX product documentation, focusing on continuous improvement and mentoring others to support their professional growth. We are looking for someone who is confident in both their ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, geographically distributed team. You are a seasoned communicator who can distill extremely technical concepts into approachable, easy-to-understand documentation. You are a constant learner and avid information gatherer. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience with others and helping them thrive. An ideal candidate will approach their work in this role with a strong sense of empathy for NGINX users and use their skills and experience to cultivate the same across multiple teams.

Primary Responsibilities Plan, develop, and maintain documentation for proprietary and open-source NGINX products. Manage and lead assigned projects from design stage to release-ready; plan and lead content-related projects; work on multiple projects, in a team or independently. Partner with cross-functional project stakeholders to develop strategies that improve the user experience. Engage with the NGINX community to identify opportunities to help people of all experience levels use NGINX. Keep up to date with trends and developments in the technical writing industry so that our team can continually improve. Establish yourself as a recognized technical subject matter expert in several product areas. Provide technical support, guidance, and expertise to team members and internal partners as needed. Have a clear understanding of business needs and proactively develop tools and resources that support those goals. Mentor others to help them build their product knowledge and adopt technical writing and development best practices.

Preferred Qualifications 8+ years of related experience in Application Delivery, Network Traffic Management, or a similar field. 5+ years of experience in software development Experience with NGINX. Experience working with open-source software communities. Experience with public and private cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and VMware vSphere. Strong understanding of web technologies and networking concepts, including HTTP, TCP, REST
