As a Senior Project Manager, you will LEAD by……….

Leadership

  • Providing managerial and technical leadership for small to medium capital and expense projects ($ 200K - $10MM).

  • Managing all stakeholder expectations including support for the development and implementation of capital and expense projects consistent with requirements as defined by the site and region, as well as all appropriate related contracting strategies.

  • Leading the project team in developing and documenting the project scope to ensure basic engineering completeness while applying techniques that add value including identifying existing buildings, utilities and infrastructure that are available for use on the project. Initiating and approving scope change documents.

Project Management

  • Preparing the Project Objectives in cooperation with the Manufacturing Representative and others as appropriate.

  • Providing project controls services (e.g., estimating, scheduling, cost controlling, document control, etc.) to the Manufacturing areas at the sites to maintain project budgets and spending forecasts within a +/- 10% accuracy.

  • Fostering timely and effective communications regarding project activity. Ensuring preparation and issue of accurate and timely project management documents and SAP reports to ensure project expenditures, labor and schedule are following the submitted project planning.

  • Being jointly responsible with the manufacturing representative to maintain the project cost, schedule, and functionality.

  • Developing and maintaining the project schedule during all phases to ensure proper flow of task execution and achievement of business goals.

  • Acquiring, assembling, and direct engineering and design resources as required to execute the project. Managing the preparation and issue of Request for Engineering Services, the Definition Request, and the Appropriation Request.

  • Facilitating and conduct the Technical Review.

  • Working with manufacturing to define the division of work and budget responsibilities for activities occurring during project completion and start-up. Overseeing preparation and issue of project Job Books with input from Manufacturing Representative.

  • Leading the effort to procure BASF supplied equipment and instruments for the project in concert with the procurement department. Seeking appropriate inspection and expediting of equipment and other material.

  • Providing technical support to manufacturing in producing project operating manuals and in start-up and commissioning.

  • Performing final project completion activities such as pre-startup safety inspection, project critique, and project closure forms.

Safety

  • Ensuring the application of all safety rules, assuring Engineering personnel are aware of and employing safe working practices and promoting safety programs and behaviors.

  • Taking the lead and organizing the Ecology and Safety Project Reviews and ensuring the project incorporates the necessary changes.

  • Contributing to the organization’s continuous improvement activities by fostering innovation and facilitating change that drives improvement in the planning and execution of capital projects at the site.

Collaboration

  • Participating in site teams to develop and optimize technical engineering execution, reliability, and work processes.

  • Obtaining site maintenance and reliability input on equipment specifications, spare parts, and vendor submittals.

  • Enlisting Construction involvement during design effort and provide support to construction during field installation of project.

Your elements for success……

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Structural, Civil).

  • Fifteen years related experience as a Project Manager.

  • Proficiency with SAP

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Experience working within a chemical or closely related manufacturing facility including working within a structured safety, purchasing, and engineering framework.

  • Continuous improvement mindset andcommitment to LEAN or similar process improvement methodologies

  • Proven leadership, communications, and human relations skills.

  • Strong focus and deep understanding of Occupational and Process Safety programs and relevant Environmental Regulatory / Compliance programs

  • Ability to interact and communicate at a high competency level in manufacturing technical discussions.

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to determine the optimum scope of work.

  • Thorough knowledge of process utilities and manufacturing equipment

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $95,000- $135,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
