Cree Equipment Maintenance Technician (Siler City, Night Shift) in Siler City, North Carolina

Here is the Gist:

As a member of the Equipment team, the person in this role will be responsible for performing equipment startup, modifications, upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance on production and R&D systems. This role will interact directly with operations, process an equipment engineering and other groups to meet department and Wolfspeed goals. Successful candidates will have a strong team mentality and strong communication skills. Candidates working in this area must exhibit and mandate safe working practices. This role will also be responsible for a diverse mixture of activities with a strong emphasis on hands-on mechanical assembly, high vacuum systems, and light electrical work.

This posting is for a position that will directly support operations at the John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide, our expansion site in Siler City, NC. The person in this role will train at our Durham, NC headquarters initially.
 

The person in this position will work a 12-hr shift on our Front End or Back End nights shift pattern.
 

The day to day:

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment.

  • Perform mechanical or basic electrical troubleshooting to determine problems in electro-mechanical equipment

  • Complete work orders assigned and document all job details and findings.

  • Dismantle, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings

  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts

  • Rebuild manufacturing equipment as required

  • Flexibility for technical support for critical outgoing projects, installations and repairs.

This job is right for you if you have:

  • Strong hands-on based mechanical aptitude, using common hand and power tools and attention to detail

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, schematics, and maintenance manuals

  • Willingness to work a 12 hour night shift appointment

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems or drive to develop skill

  • Ability and desire to learn new fields of discipline

  • Experience with MS Office Suit

  • Possess a strong work ethic and ability to manage time

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Technical Degree or journeyman certification in a related field or equivalent military experience

  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical wiring, block, and schematic diagrams

  • Knowledge of vacuum and gas delivery systems.

This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by leadership.
