nVent Quality Technician - 2nd shift in Solon, Ohio

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates problem solving activities for both product and manufacturing processes.

  • Performs process validations, in-process inspections and monitoring, analyzing the quality of manufacturing processes and products.

  • Provides support to design, and manufacturing functions for data analysis.

  • Performs containment activities preventing potential or additional quality defects.

  • Provides formal inspection reports suitable for customer or internal use as required.

  • Determine and use appropriate measuring tools and equipment to verify dimensional and functional acceptance.

  • Effectively communicates with appropriate function as needed. (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Customer Service, Planning, Shipping and Receiving, etc.)

  • Performs product reviews and analysis to determine cause and/or disposition.

  • Provide audit support in designated areas.

  • Lead and/or assist in the calibration of inspection, test, and measurement equipment.

  • Assist with training personnel to adhere to quality standards.

  • Participate in lean activities as required.

  • Observe all applicable safety rules and reporting any unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB CRITERIA:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Technical degree preferred.

  • Experience in the quality process, ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Technician (CQT) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Good mechanical aptitude and comfort applying to sheet metal.

  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, sampling inspection, and statistical process control.

  • Experience conducting calibration with an understanding of inspection system software.

  • Ability to interpret order requirements, quotes, drawings and draw conclusions.

  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment (e.g., Calipers, micrometer, coating gages, hardness tester, optical comparators, pull testers, etc.)

  • Skill in identifying root causes of routine problems/issues and the ability to develop recommendations for continual improvement.

  • Energetic with the ability to effectively organize, plan workload and work in a self-directed manner.

  • Ability to utilize good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with people across multiple functional areas within the company.

  • Self-driven individual with a positive attitude, able to motivate and influence at all levels.

  • Ability to interpret and apply Quality System / ISO procedures and documentation.

  • Must be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments.

  • Knowledge of product design and manufacturing processes preferred.

  • Knowledge in technical aspects of products as well as of product specifications and offerings preferred.

  • Skills to quickly learn and operate a wide variety of test and measurement equipment.

  • Energetic, self-motivated and possess critical thinking and problem solving abilities.

  • Ability to apply appropriate math and geometry.

  • Skill in using personal computers including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Ability to operate hand tools.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand and walk frequently.
