We are currently searching for a Systems Engineer II to join our team in Sterling, VA. Employing some of the most talented, dedicated people on the planet is not by chance. The Systems Engineer II position is within the Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high-fidelity weapon systems and full flight training systems, including full visual motion and simulator interoperability.

In this position, you will assist in designing, implementing, and testing front-end and back-end software applications. You will work in a fast-paced, modern, agile development environment and collaborate closely with software, hardware, and tests to build advanced mission capabilities and features. This position requires the ability to obtain a US security clearance. Most of the job is done in a classified lab environment and requires a daily onsite presence. This position is onsite in Sterling, VA. Eligible for relocation.

What YOU will do:

• Executes objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.

• Monitors activities' cost, effectiveness, and reliability and recommends modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.

• Manages work processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.

• Researches and evaluates investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems, products and services.Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system-level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

• Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

• Considers and evaluates alternatives accounting for similar metrics.

• Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.Performs architectural exploration.

• Decomposes customer specifications and system-level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

• Occasional travel may be required.

  Education & Experience:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Skills you must have:

• Experience supporting testing activities during product development.

• Experience conducting peer reviews on test procedures.

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
