About being our Scheduler

As a Scheduler you create, maintain, monitor, coordinate and communicate project schedule. You will help implement the Caltrans Project Workplan and baseline schedule for performance requirements noted by agency project control guidelines. You will review baseline schedules, monthly/weekly schedule updates, and revisions. You will identify schedule delays, impacts and variances to the baseline schedule and communicate plans and schedules to the Consultant Project Manager and Project Team Members.

Responsibility Highlights for our Scheduler

  • Create, monitor, and report information on the project schedule and the effectiveness of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to the project team members
  • Track, analyze, and report project schedule information on current project status as well as forecasted changes to the schedule baseline
  • Ensure accuracy of project schedules and provide input on baseline management
  • Coordinate project schedules, task, scheduled deliverables, updates, and effective distribution of project data and reports
  • Collaborate and communicate with Project Managers and Functional Team Members to develop project schedules
  • Develop and update project baseline schedules per the Client's approved Work Breakdown Structure
  • Support Project Team and Project Control support staff to verify compliance with approved milestone dates of the baseline schedule
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling process through various phases of project development (initiation, planning, design, right of way, construction, and close-out)
  • Retrieve, consolidate and analyze information from various sources
  • Apply schedule scope changes in alignment with contract requirements
  • Identify schedule delays, impacts and variances to the baseline and communi ate plans and schedules to the Project Manager and Project Team through effective graphs and reports
  • Report on progress of schedule at program meetings, forecast reports, and status reports
  • Analyze cost and resource loading in the baseline and monthly schedule update and run regular cash flow reports
  • Prepare what-if scenario schedules that are based on change in sequence and inform management of possible outcome of the re-sequence
  • Review/analyze time impacts and provide time impact resolution

Minimum Qualifications to be our Scheduler

  • 10+ years of industry experience and at least 5 years of dedicated experience in planning and scheduling of capital outlay projects
  • High level understanding of planning and scheduling principles, best practices and techniques
  • Ability to read and understand project workplans, specifications, contracts and proposal documents
  • Strong communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical and planning skills
  • Understand and applied CPM technics
  • Knowledge of the elements of a WBS and how it is referenced in developing a project workplan
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet applications and various project management scheduling software compatible with MS Project

Preferred Qualifications for our Scheduler

  • Certification or a Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Planning, or related discipline
