SUNY Upstate Medical University Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail), SG006 in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Duties include, but are not limited to: Sort and poke incoming interdepartmental mail; sort documents and process all outgoing mail; provide daily pickup and delivery of all mail and packages throughout the Upstate campus, offsite location, and U.S. Post Offices; process outgoing mail according to U.S. Postal regulations; answer phone calls and provide assistance when needed; keep work area clean: sweep & mop floors, remove trash, wipe down equipment & desks, clean vehicles as needed. Must be able to bend, lift, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to lift moderate to heavy boxes, sacks, and buckets of various weights up to 70 lbs assisted. Must demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. A valid New York State Driver's License is required and must be maintained to operate a motor vehicle to make pickups and deliveries. Computer experience preferred.

The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the NY HELPS program. During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Office Assistant 1, SG006 title.

Work Days:

Schedule based on a 37.5 hour work week. Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM, weekends may be required based on operational need. Located at the CWB.
