Actalent Electrical Designer in Toledo, Ohio

Description:

  • Project phase appropriate cost estimates for customer process, facility, lighting, electrical loads in both greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit types of projects.

  • Develop detailed electrical drawings for controls and automation hardware design for panel fabrication and field use.

  • Prepare conduit/cables schedules and riser diagrams for electrical installation.

  • Create/update I/O points list based on field data, P&IDs, and other related information.

  • Prepare electrical scope documents for demolition and installation.

  • Travel expectation < 15%, on-site project work is expected.

  • Develop specifications, drawings, and perform associated engineering for flow diagrams, 1-lines, and electrical building risers (assisted by CAD designers) and their BOM's to produce:

o Medium voltage switchgear designs including arrestors, metering, and protection relays.

o Low voltage substation designs including metal-enclosed, power switching, protective metering, and protective relays.

o General arrangements (GA's) and Power Plans to include Power Distribution Rooms and Transformer Vaults to the appropriate code compliance and personnel safety.

o Load, raceway, cable, and equipment schedules.

o Specifications for the Electrical Contractor / Constructors.

o Diesel and Nat Gas large kW and mW standby power generator systems including power transfer / ATS / synch schemes both open and closed transition.

o Grounding, bonding, and lightning protection systems.

o Power factor and harmonic mitigation systems.

o Plant power utilities such as lighting, HVAC, and portable equipment receptacles

autocad, electrical design, systems design, autocad electrical, material handling, batching, glass

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5 or more years’ experience with industrial electrical and controls with in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD designing PLC-based control systems, control panels, and related power distribution for low voltage systems.

  • Familiarity with preparing single-line and three-line diagrams.

  • Plant and/or field experience.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits utilizing a digital voltmeter (DVM).

  • Ability to select and specify electrical components and design PLC-based control systems, panels, MCCs, drives, and related power distribution systems.

  • Familiar with and capable to design meeting all applicable codes as applicable such as UL-508A, NFPA 79, NEC, and other codes as applicable based on location.

  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, drives/motor control, and the related power distribution.

  • Power system design experience in a solution-focused, team environment; yet capable of solo performance and remote site work under customer scrutiny.

  • Application selection, use and care of appropriate PPE as defined in NFPA70E.

  • Management, office interface, field support or supervision of skilled trades.

  • Field and shop utilization of power, hand, and diagnostic tools.

  • Project management of end-to-end plant power system design a plus.

  • Technical acumen in using the following codes and standards: NFPA 70 National Electric Code, NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace, ANSI Y14.15; Y32.2 Standard Electrical Drafting Practice, NECA 100 Drawing Symbols, UL 508A & UL 489 equipment standards, IEEE Color Book standards in particular Std. 1584, 0399, 0242, 0142, 0141, IEC 62305 Lightning Protection.

PLUS:

  • AutoCAD Electrical

  • Familiarity with material handling, batching, steel, or glass industry (especially glass)
