Position: Defensible Space Tree Climber
Pay: $30-36 per hour DOE
Reports to: Defensible Space Operations Supervisor
Position Overview:
As the Tree Climber you will be responsible for the more complex tree removals and pruning where an experienced climber is necessary to complete the job safely and efficiently.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
Team player who can communicate and work well with others
Uncompromising attention to detail
Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
Ability to occasionally work in a high stress - fast-paced environment
Must consider safety and courtesy high priorities
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Must demonstrate the ability to adapt to environments and situations
Ability to lift and carry 50-100lbs
Minimum 3 years of tree climbing experience including pruning and removals preferred
Preferably 3 years experience in the Arboriculture industry
Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
Climbing trees using approved climbing equipment according to ANSI Z133.1 industry standards
Trimming, pruning, shaping trees and shrubs according to ANSI A300 industry standards
Static and dynamic cabling, bracing, bolting, guying trees and branches
Specialized skills needed to operate and perform general maintenance on equipment such as a chipper, stump grinder, and chainsaw, and other various tools in a safe and responsible manner, according to ANSI Z133 and company standards.
Ability to tie tree industry knots
Skill to hoist tools and equipment, safely lower branches with ropes, use a block and tackle
Daily inspection of all personal climbing and safety equipment including ropes, saddle, PPE
Learns, understands, and adheres to all safety rules and company safety policies, participates in all safety training sessions offered, asks questions, and improves job safety skills
