Actalent Junior Firmware Engineer in Valencia, California

Description:

As a Junior Firmware and Embedded Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining firmware and embedded software solutions for our cutting-edge products. You will work closely with experianced engineers to contribute to the entire development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to testing and debugging. This position provides an exciting opportunity to grow your skills and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and system architects, to define firmware and embedded software requirements and specifications

• Participate in the design and development of firmware and embedded software components, ensuring adherence to coding standards, quality guidelines, and industry best practices

• Implement, test, and debug firmware and embedded software modules on various microcontrollers and processors

• Conduct unit testing and integration testing to ensure proper functionality and performance of the firmware and embedded software

• Collaborate with the testing team to identify and resolve software defects and performance issues

• Support the production team in the deployment and verification of firmware and software updates

• Keep abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in firmware and embedded software development

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with embedded development experience

• Solid understanding of firmware and embedded software development concepts, principles, and practices

• Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages for embedded systems

• Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and related development tools

• Knowledge of microcontrollers and processors commonly used in embedded systems

• Experience with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and tools

• Prior internship or project in firmware or embedded software development is a plus

• Preferred experience with peripheral communications and protocols such as: I2C, SPI, RS232/485, MODBUS, SAN-BUS, 1-Wire, and Ethernet
