Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the ocean front. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization. Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays. * Shift differential will be offered * The LPN will deliver quality nursing care to psychiatric adult patients. Key Responsibilities include: Conducts ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned and as dictated by the patient’s condition in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols. Monitors for and reports change in patient physical or mental status. Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care. Administer patient medications as prescribed by physician. Provide education to patients on their prescribed medications, documenting this in the patient record. Documents shift observation of patients as assigned, following up on vital signs and accu-check results prior to dispensing medication. Transcription of medication orders in a timely, error free manner, and ensuring reason for PRN medication is documented

Qualifications

Position Requirements: Graduation from an accredited vocational school for LPNs. Current Commonwealth of Virginia LPN License (or eligible). Previous experience in behavioral health preferred. Strong communication skills. Excellent customer service and organization skills. Highly effective listening skills.
