Maintenance Mechanic - Alsip, IL / Night shift (Sun - Thurs, 11:30pm - 8:00am)

Your Role at KIK

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring machinery and equipment is operating properly. Primary responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on various devices and perform troubleshooting and repairs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Troubleshooting problems and performing repairs on equipment as needed.

  • Discusses difficulties in operating equipment with machine operators to isolate problems, and then troubleshoots machine to determine cause and repairs required.

  • Must be able to read and follow directions as found in technical manuals as well as be able to document changes they are involved in. so as to refer back to the notes and records a thereby gain understanding as to how to set up lines an adjust machines and conveyors as needed.

  • Performs necessary repairs on equipment to keep it in efficient operating order.

  • Must be able to perform major mechanical overhauls of various types of manufacturing equipment.

  • Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for inspecting, servicing and testing machinery.

  • Assists in determining required design modifications and makes approved modifications to equipment.

  • Performs tasks in accordance with approved procedures and following all safety procedures and good manufacturing processes (GMP).

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 4 years mechanical experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment

  • Good working knowledge and experience with preventative maintenance programs

  • Strong working knowledge of QS9000, ISO 14001 and EPA regulations

  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management software’s an asset

  • Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures

  • Experience with integrated/computerized manufacturing systems. JDE experience is preferred.

  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment performing various tasks simultaneously

  • Must pay attention to details with a customer service attitude

  • Strong team player with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Proficient with Microsoft applications – strong understanding of excel

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, investigation, problem solving, communication skills and be a team player.

  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience preferred

  • Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, complexity and work within a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Working Conditions: The production facility is within an indoor/outdoor, industrial environment and is not climate controlled. Will regularly enter areas that require the use of stairs or ladders, respirator protection, and enter closely confined spaces. Facility operations 24/5.

  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Climbing. Balancing. Stooping. Kneeling. Crouching. Crawling. Reaching. Handling. Feeling. Seeing. Hearing.
