Job Summary

Research, develop, design, test, and evaluate electrical components, equipment, and systems while applying principles and techniques of electronics engineering. Perform intensive technological research and evaluation of a broad array of alternative solutions to improve existing implementations. Perform analysis of existing technology applications, processes, and products, taking into consideration costs, life cycle considerations, availability, reliability, maintainability, producibility, and long-term support.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to help resolve challenging electronics discrepancies and issues related to rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
  • Develop design for component parts and assemblies for application on aerospace products in accordance with Military Standards using CAD programs.
  • Verify modifications or repairs safely integrate with military aircraft systems.
  • Assure conformance to pre-established design parameters.
  • Participate in detailed cross functional engineering communication, design, evaluation, and implementations.
  • Perform routine analyses to develop options or recommendations for customer products and components.
  • Participate in the development of product drawings, schematics, bills of materials, technical data packages (TDP), test procedures, technical instructions, and design documentation.
  • Review and evaluation of regulatory compliance of aircraft certification projects and initiation of safety determinations for continuing airworthiness.
  • Evaluate existing drawings for manufacturability and supportability.
  • Prepares, edits, and/or submits research, travel, technical, and other reports.
  • Conduct research on aircraft components and systems using a variety of resources (FEDLog, JEDMICS, REMIS, EDIS, technical manuals, etc.).
  • May work for design approvals related to 14 CFR parts 23, 25, 27, 29 or 33 and other 14 CFR parts of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) as assigned.
  • Identify barriers and design issues, brief leadership on deviations / options / workarounds / solutions.
  • Perform all duties on time, on budget and in a safe manner while adhering to safety standards.
  • Perform various supporting tasks as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • An undergraduate degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or applicable experience plus an engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Greater than one year of experience in similar work is required.
  • Aircraft modification background is a plus.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer.

To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
