We are looking to hire a Network Engineer SME to support our U.S. Department of Transportation customer in Washington, DC!

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will provide IT Network Engineering Support for the Department of Transportation Program at the and serve as an authoritative resource for the DOT agency relative to network operations, network development and production, supporting numerous agency and inter-agencymaritime programs, and maintaining robust contacts with the maritime industry to provide network-related support and assistance.
• Direct involvement with all matters related to network acceptance and testing. Person would have background on Network architecture, security, hardware, software, IT space configuration, and emergency response if necessary.
• Support Operations assessments, audits, exercises, site visits, training and information development for contracted Managers, and other commercial and government operators.
• Assist in the mitigation / remediation process, following corrective action plans approved by leadership i.e., Contracting Officer (CO), Contracting Officers Representative (COR), and/or Task Area
• Provide network architecture and security expertise to support the system engineering process formally known as the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Provide Network support to the Program Office, the Criterion Cybersecurity SME, and the ISSM in support of acquiring and maintaining an Authority to Operate (ATO) .
• Assess network vulnerabilities, identifying threats, unauthorized access, and recommending/creating solutions to mitigate them.
• Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Technologies

The Network Engineer SME must have a BS in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years experience in the following areas:

• Understanding industry network best practices.
• Experience with network operations, network development, security and production. Specifically, an understanding of operations and IT methods, techniques, and practices sufficient to select, recognize, adapt, and apply shipboard principles and practices.
• Understanding and familiarity with network requirements/policies/resources.
• Experience with network architecture, hardware, software, IT space configuration, and emergency response.
• Ability to work with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, satisfy expectations, knows products and services.
• Understanding of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring work, and performance.
• Understanding of the principles, methods, and tools of quality assurance and quality control used to ensure a product fulfills functional requirements and standards.
• Understanding of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, Power BI, Tableau, and SharePoint.
• Must have proficiency in both networking and cybersecurity technologies and protocols.
• Must understand cloud security and technical components such as routers, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.
• Possess experience testing networks for vulnerabilities and conducting regular vulnerability assessments
• Modeling potential threats and performing penetration testing
• Knowledge of latest OMB network and data encryption requirements

Security Clearance Level

• US Citizenship
• Must have a public trust clearance or higher or be capable of obtaining one.
• The Contractor (and sub-contractor(s), if applicable) shall comply with all Federal requirements for personnel security in accordance with DOT Order 1630.2B.

Work Schedule

• Hybrid: On-siteand Remote- need to be on-site 2 days each week
