Job Description

Job Title : QC Senior Chemist (1 st Shift)

Department: Quality Control

Reports to: Incoming Materials Supervisor, Quality Control

Location : West Caldwell, NJ


  • Performs routine analysis on raw material samples submitted for testing on time and accurately.

  • Experienced in understanding and performing compendia (USP, Ph.Eur) methods such as HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry techniques.

  • Must have good writing skills to write documents such as; SOPs, test methods, specifications, protocols, reports and investigations.

  • Is a subject matter expert in the compendia and provides training to other group members and peer reviews data.

  • Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment as needed.

  • Records results in accordance with cGMPs and follows company SOPs.

  • Informs Supervisor of any deviations in results from established specifications.

  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.

  • The above functions are not all inclusive and may need to perform other tasks as required by Quality Control Unit.


  • Minimum BS in a scientific discipline, MS preferred

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a laboratory environment with a BS.

  • Experience with computerized Data Acquisition Systems and a strong analytical instrumentation background.

  • Works well in a team environment; overtime may be required.

  • In-depth knowledge of cGMP’s and pharmacopoeial procedures.
