JOB TITLE: Senior Quality Engineer

REPORTING TO: Director of Quality

LOCATION: West Henrietta, NY

ITAR/EAR CRITERIA:

These positions may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that IDEX Health & Science products meet purchase specifications as well as, design, quality/reliability and regulatory requirements. This position requires ownership and vast depth and breadth in many areas. It is critical for this person to be a team player with the ability to be flexible, positive, and collaborative, to be able lead, support and work individually as required to contribute to the success and growth of IDEX Health & Science.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Lead, collaborate, facilitate, and support the needs of the organization with a sense of ownership and integrity while fostering a positive work environment and a shared Quality Culture.

  • Demonstrated understanding and application of quality metrics, process characterization, mapping processes, Lean Manufacturing, VSM, Six Sigma, and Continuous Process Improvement.

  • Demonstration of successful customer, supplier, and business function facing interactions regarding quality qualification, performance, returns, and continuous improvement.

  • Responsible for assuring site and supplier quality performance, and effectively communicating updates to the external parties

  • Lead internal and supplier quality audits

  • Actively assuring compliance to IS0.9001, company policies, customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Implement quality planning, control plan, FMEA, inspection methodology,.

  • Work with Operations and Engineering to increase efficiency through the improvement of in-house and supplier manufacturing processes, and product quality/reliability.

  • Developing and managing KPI's, databases and countermeasures as required for continuous improvements

  • Participate in Material Review Board activities and feedback to suppliers.

  • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years Quality Engineering (preferred) or related engineering experience.

  • Ability to lead teams to conduct investigations to determine root cause and develop, implement, and track the closure of corrective and preventative actions.

  • Demonstrated experience with batch and component assembly processes, multi-tasking in a fast paced manufacturing environment and supporting cleanroom activities.

  • Familiar with modern risk and quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical techniques.

  • Experience with IS0 9001 or similar ISO quality management system.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Familiarity with the use of ERP / Document Control systems (e.g. Oracle, JDE, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 10% both domestic and international.

Highly valued characteristics

  • Optical systems education and/or experience, such as:

Wavelength, Metrology (e.g. Perk and Elmer and Zygo), Thin film deposition experience, Vacuum coating technologies, Core and dice shaping, Beveling, Part Marking, Assembly, Inspection (ISO and ANSI), Custom Data Capabilities (e.g. Spectral Data, Dimensional Data, Zygo, White Light Interfermetry, Wedgeman, Serialization), FAI (First Article Inspection)

  • Project management experience

  • Value Stream production support both High Mix and High Volume

  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Certified ISO XX Lead Auditor

  • Experience leading and developing a team

  • Experience in design quality engineering

  • Familiarity with ISO 17025

  • Knowledge of SQL

  • Experience with REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, ITAR, EAR and other regulatory requirements

  • Ability to develop and deliver quality and continuous improvement related training materials

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $94,600.00 - $141,800.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
